Thanks to Mike Garner (Supramike) who found a "new" fuel tank to replace the existing tank which had a pinhole leak. Also thanks to Paul Robinson who fitted it after a long battle with the fuel pump. The old tank The new tank which Paul coverd with hammerite The fuel pump was left attached to the car because it wouldn't come off and he didn't want to risk breaking any pipes

The old tank can probably be repaired with fibreglass resin, a good buff down with a cup wire brush (preferably several weeks after being empty of fuel in the event of a spark !!!! )and coat the effected area , I have sucessfully repaired a few tanks this way in the past. Many a person would have cut the pipework (probably myself included)it must have been mighty tricky removing and refitting that pump suspended especially on car ramps, well done Paul.

Yes Harvey, it was very awkward and painstaking to do. Paul obviously didn't want to resort to cutting the pipes ( although my plan D was to get the train home if need be ). Putting the fuel pump back in was a stroke of luck, I thought we'd be there for hours fiddling with it and trying to get it into those compartments.
Paul will decide whether to refurbish the tank, he has done it to his own Supra.
