Hi Eveyone.
Have started on the restoration of my '73 KE25 Corolla Coupe.
I've added a few photos and would like some advice as I progress.
I've seen a single sheet brochure online which shows a dark blue 1200 SL Coupe with a couple of chaps standing behind the car with the boot open. I then found the exact same brochure but it had been doctored and was now a 1200 SR.
Does anyone know if Toyota altered their model line-up at some point and renamed the SL to SR? My SL has the 3K-B Twin Carb engine as does this other car. Apparently they both have 83bhp!
The brochure on the right is listed as an SR on ebay. If you look closely the badges have gone but it's the same brochure.
I have add some photos of mine in the following theads.
Robert.

Can anyone suggest how to restore the headlight trims?
They have been polished to death.

Sorry, once I get the hang of these photos I shall post some more.
Any ideas on how to get a few more horses out of the old engine.
Robert.

During the production life of the KE 25 Corolla Coupe, 5/1970 - 7/1974; the name and therefore the badging, was quietly changed from SL to SR. Not much publicity was given to the change but the reason circulating at the time, which seems creditable, was that it was at the request of Mercedes Benz. The German manufacturer politely pointing out that they had been using SL on their sports coupes since the early 1950's. Sportlich - Leicht translating Sport Lightweight.

Thank you very very much dinger. That explanation sounds totally plausible. I believe Porsche had similar issues in the '60's with Peugeot. The '911' was originally to be the '901' until Peugeot pointed out that they owned the rights to three figure vehicle model numbers with zeros in the middle. I think '911' rolls off the tongue far better anyway. I'm guessing Toyota and Porsche saved themselves a pretty penny in legal fees by being so understanding. So an SL is an SR or vice versa, thank you for that bit of knowledge. Robert.
