In answer to your questions.
Photo 1: Agreed you would struggle to get any heat out of that blank space.
Photo2: Large connector would be onto blower motor speed control resistor. Connectors with green tape would match up with Air Conditioning controls if A/C fitted.
Photo 3: Connector at back of clock is obvious.
Photo 4: Spare connector to which you have pointed is for the clock. You need to make up a harness to join the clock connector and this connector.
The spare mountings beside the console are where the optional factory 8 track stereo was mounted.

Details of my two Celicas and Ove Anderrsons Rally Celica TA22,s with the 2 litre 16v engines on the "features" section of this site. He reckoned a bit of negative camber on a 22 or 23GT. was a big help on handling. Do,nt try his method on the public roads. He recommends a straight bit of tarmac followed by a big jump - get the Celica up to "the ton", and land it on its front wheels. Never tried it, but that is what he told us at the 1977 Circuit of Ireland, when Toyota GB. lent two local journalists their TA23GT. to follow the event! Apparently instant neg. camber.

Bit off topic but relavent to Dingers last comments!
Many years ago when myself and a few mates followed the Scottish Rally in my TA12 Carina, we had the "instant exhaust removal" around 75mph when airbourne for a few seconds then heavy landing,no negative camber but the rear section of exhaust wrapped round the axle, the old Carina had a 2T-G under the bonnet but thats another story ;D ;D
