They are getting rare ,and as you may know they share the same drive train as the genersation 6 Celica GT....170 bhp should make it rather quick .

I've an old brochure with this car in it. It's 173bhp @ 7000 and 137lb/ft at 4800rpm. Those are identical figures for the same year Celica GT. The ST202 model. Used to have one and it's a sweet engine (3SGE). They pull well from 5000 but the best power comes in just before the redline which is a bit disappointing. I think I've seen one of these Carina GTis before but can't remember the twin exhausts. Are they standard?

Hi Al yes the exhaust is standard, joined a carina forum only to find these things are really rare so aborted the suspension change & got really good superstrut parts s/h to keep it a real Gti, its the early version thats 156bhp but its fast enough, it was only bought to keep me sane until the Ta23 comes back from the bodyshop but i really like it & will keep it for a while, have a few minor jobs to do on it & the import duty to the south (some day) , how is the Ra28? the place i got the parts had a really good 1977 one thats in storage for a few years now its green with a good 5mm of dust, dont know what the story is with it only its not for sale never he said. its an original non tampered car.

Yeah still got the ra28. Got the driver's door smashed (really stupid accident, all my own fault, cried for a week) but luckily got a replacement. Hope to get it sprayed up and replaced soon.
Was that ra28 you saw in Ireland somewhere? Just curious.
All the best with the 23.

Good to see you getting it sorted. Was front suspension the same as executive or did you change the whole set up? Mine going well apart from a trolley hitting one side and a 40ft block lorry destroying the door on the other side. have to get the bodywork fixed. Enjoy, 157bhp goes alright, get it up in 3rd in the high revs lol
