well, just surfing the interweb, I came across Trade Car View... www.tradecarview.com/used_car/japan%20car/toyota/crown/?st=12&pn=5&ps=25In became clear that there are several car importers, who will personally import whatever you want to the UK. You can then drive the car home from Bristol or Southampton or several other ports. I ordered the car in August & drove it home (from snow covered Bristol) on 21 December. So, even if Toyota (Nissan / Mazda etc) don't import any particular model, you can!

The car was imported in 2006 and was a taxi in japan and it is rust free and only needs a few scuffs on the bumper resprayed and a rear light lens and reflector. Its well worth looking into importing these.

Total drive home cost in the UK is about £4k upwards. Even if the car cost only £1,500 in Japan, you will pay about £4K after it is shipped/tested & taxed etc. Of course, this will be more if you buy a car for £3k or 5K in Japan. Grey import parts are available in the UK from specialists. You can also get them (as I have) from Japan's Yahoo Action site (no eBay in Japan): www.japanauctioncenter.com/index.php
