I seen the rust bucket for sale on the Gumtree site in October and resisted the temptation to phone until Christmas-thinking it would be sold and that would scratch my itch, it was still for sale and before I knew what I was doing I had been to see it, offered the guy less than what he asked for in the advert, gave him a deposit and owned another supra. I went home happy but when I told her indoors she went ape and I had a broken TV for a few days (all picture & no sound). She came round a bit when I mentioned that I was thinking of going to the pub to watch football and that if I enjoyed this it would become my new hobby.
Once in the garage I jacked it up knowing it had been welded at the rear before all ok there, new brake pipes & hoses replaced (of the old white rally car) and feeling all smug about my new car jacked up the front to have a quick check around and change the oil as these cars don't rust at the front except for the front lower chassis brace panel wrong! 3 weeks welding and calling it names it went for mot that was on the Thursday, taxed on Friday and I got my revenge on Saturday on the annual Derek walker multi venue autotest, mechanical sympathy was out the window and it felt good.
Recently I have had the front suspension in pieces to replace the strut inserts, discs, pads and fit longer wheel studs so i can run different wheels. The interior strip out whatever was not needed was next, change the diff to an automatic spec one for less top end is next and I have made a sump guard for it.
On St Patricks day 4 of us went to punchestown race course outside Dublin for their multi venue autotest, great days fun, finished 23rd out of 76 which I was happy with and there is a lot more development to come.
