so the steering coupling turned up yesterday and the pcd is spot on, the center hole is smaller, but if it wont fit will just bore it bigger with a hole saw, the spacers need a smidge taking out of them to locate on the Toyota studs. problem we do have is there is no bush in the bottom of the steering column I'm assuming it should have one ? cheers.

latest update today, spannermonkey got the steering column bottom bush sorted, looked in the manual and it says it should have a dust cover so after a rummage through the spares box at work, a rubber bush was found, dunno what its off but it fits the column shaft and slides into the bottom of the column itself spot on. got it re fitted today with the new steering coupling (fits perfect) its off an opal kadett hope to road test tomorrow cheers.

so the latest update is goodnews, we swopped out one of the mc's for a smaller one for the front brakes, and after a quick roadtest round the block the decision was made "lets take it for an mot and see how it goes" which we have done today and its passed, yippee, engine is still a bit iffy, but will just plod it about locally and see how we get on cheers
