SEP162012 Right the mission was on today, my day off from work today, headed to my mates garage & plan was to attempt to start the RT40 after 24 yeras (last ran in 1984) ... I was worried the engine may have seized so before any plans of restoration I wanted to see if the engine was in fact still alive... Got there at 1100 this morning, pushed the car into the garage (brakes free & rolled smoothly) , then onto the ramp, first was to look underneath and see what the damage was of so many years off the road and see the J rot... It was not bad at all, in fact quite immpressive :-) The exhaust mind you though had disintegrated lol... Luckily I have a full brand new genuine system here at home.. Put a battery on & booster.......... Next a full service...... new plugs, filter, coil, condensor, rotor arm, Out came the oil, black or what !!!!! WD40'd the old bolts and opened the carb and a quick clean, poured in the fresh petrol..

Now! What are the chances of finding another Corona? Same model? Same colour? And furthermore from the same town where I bought from? Weird.........Strange....... Or sheer LUCK??? Was in Vournemouth trying to do a deal on this one, but it was far gone and a lot of work needed to this and nothing was good for a donor..

Thanks for posting this. It's nice to see an early Corona getting some love and attention. It means in the future there will be some really nice examples of the sort of cars that were an early glimpse into how Japan was going to entirely dominate the global car industry. It makes me wish I had a decent workshop so I could get some of my long-term projects under way Please post some pics when the final paint goes on. Regards, Ian.
