Nigel,
Looks like you have become the market for TE71's.

I had a TE71, loved it. Shame I ever let it go to the scrapyard. Your arches are a lot better than mine were.

Wow, what were the chances of coming across the perfect spares car like that! It doesn't look like a spares car at all really, it looks rather good too.
I must say i'm a bit confused which car is which in the latest 'rally' picture. It looks like the face-lift lights/grill but has the wing mounted door mirrors.
I have an import 1982 KE70 Coupe which has been off the road hiding in the garage for a couple of years. I have logged onto the site for the first time in ages as I'm trying to muster the enthusiasm to start restoring it.

Ahh I see what you did there now. I thought you maybe decided not to break the other one and decided to rally it instead. I didn't know those two light setups were easily interchangeable. I thought the leading edge of the bonnet and the wings were different where the indicators go, that's interesting to know. I prefer the smaller light setup you were using but mine is the bigger square light setup like you swapped on.
If you really are breaking the 'trailer' one there are some parts I could do with if you are selling any.

The first things that come to mind are... - Full set of plastic/rubber trim inserts for the doors and wings. (hope you get which bit I mean)
- Pair of door mirrors (inc. interior trim piece)
- An MPH instrument cluster if you have one (mine is KPH)
- A Pair of plastic ends for the front bumper.
- A screw hole cover clip for the interior grab handle above the door.
- Maybe the radiator and bits needed to fit it, as mine has the 1.3 half size radiator and the 1.5 engine could maybe do with a bigger one on it.
I would have been interested in the headlight/side light setup too but I already know your using those on your car. Mine are LHD headlights. Your obviously a keen Toyota fan so maybe you would like to see the story of mine? It was my girlfriends dads car from brand new, so I'm entrusted with looking after it. The 'build' thread is here LOL, except there hasn't really been any building yet! retrorides.proboards.com/thread/114380And the road trip thread from when we collected it is here: retrorides.proboards.com/thread/113910?page=1It's been stored in a dry garage so it hasn't come to any harm but it has been off the road a couple of years now. I would like to get it back on the road in the spring hopefully. Cheers, Steve.

Great pics. Is that your entry I see in the Corolla, for the UAC Rally December 28? Might get along to spectate. I see the the usual suspects, Eamonn and Frank from Dublin entered in their highly modded hot 80 and 70's series Starlets - great drivers too, so they'll take some beating for best Toyota! I was miles behind them in my wifes bog standard 90 series Starlet, in that event a few years ago - pics in an earlier Club Topics magazine. But if it is your entry, super to see a different model Toyota out and Good luck.

I miss mine, should have kept it really (with hindsight) The guy I gave it to ended up doing several banger races in it. About 20 years ago.

Great pics of a classic Toyota in action. Good result too against such a big entry and a lot of top guys. I went out to see the event and saw you on a Road section but with the huge entry it took a long time for all to come through. I brought with me a copy pic of the Alan Johnston/Bobby Willis 70 series Liftback on the RAC Rally, probably 1982. The car sponsored by TGB and Sealink. It is included in a small section at the end of a specially produced, Factory brochure mainly celebrating the Celica T/C Turbo (Whistling pig) win on the WRC Ivory coast rally 1982. If you contact me with your address I'll post you the copy - my details on the back of the Club mag. DB.

Forgot to add on my last post, some nice pics of the Rally on www.ulsterautomobileclub.co.uk and look for the Rally which was on Dec 28th. For those not familiar with this type of Rally, tests all forward direction only, spinning round pylons, in open car parks and farmyards and in some cases down narrow farm lanes with quite high speeds up to 70/80mph. As featured in a piece in the Club mag a few years ago, mainly Eire based Starlets (70/80/90 series) very competitive. Highly modded and with specially commissioned LSD's and driven by top ace drivers like this years winner Eamonn Byrne - that's him pictured in the rather bonnet bashed 80 series model.
