Today , I have provisionally booked the weekend of the 12th and 13th August for our national gathering at Hatton World , which is close to the M42 and near Leamington Spa and Coventry. Many of the car clubs that used Billing have moved here , because of the geography and the fact they have experience of classic car Clubs. They have 2 large meadows and we will be allocated a dedicated space on this weekend. Space is available for motor homes and camping and there are cafes and restaurants on site with the other village facilities that they have available. Full details including directions will be included in the next email newsletter to be issued in the near future. Malcolm.

I think we could tie this in with a weekends camping. Giving us a chance to use the Avensis T180 to pull the caravan and a chance for you to see our latest purchase.
Update........ Damm, Damm and Double damm. I'm already committed to attend a Classic Car show at Kirton near Boston on that Sunday. So for the first time in 18 years I'm unlikely to attend the AGM.

hatton world is booked for our annual meet with camping at £10 per night. As we have taken the whole meadow then anyone requiring camping needs to book it through myself, you can send me a txt on 07975718146 or email malcolmgrahamjones@yahoo.co.uk to confirm . further details concerning directions etc will come out on this site a little closer.
we have had confirmation today that we have a stand at the lancaster nec classic car show in november, final details should come in the next week, concerning how much space we have for cars . once we know these details then i will put a full post up inviting members to confirm that they would like to show their cars over the 3 days. hoping for a 6 car stand so will be bigger than last year. malcolm.

Our National Meet is nearly upon us with a new venue at hatton world just off the M42 near Alcestor. I will be there both on the Saturday and sunday , with the AGM being held on the Sunday , so looking forward to plenty of cars turning up and some fine weather. The club has gone through considerable change over the last 12 months with some noticeable achievements :- 1. Attending some major shows at the NEC and the silverstone classic. 2. Moving to an email magazine 3. Upgrading our profile with teardrop flags for shows 4. making our memberships costs cheaper and more in line with other clubs 5. Still being the only club to support all models of early cars.
However we need to consider for the agm some of the following points : 1. How do we increase membership 2. How do we make membership renewals a more seamless excercise. 3. Can we co-opt more people onto the committee to drive the club forward and help with the workload 4. Should we have some dedicated show organisers in the south to organise more show attendance and a better profile. 5. Is the new magazine style working for the membership.
Just some thought starters , we have turned a corner but now need to progress on. I will put another note up later with exact details of how to find Hatton world for this weekend.

As per Malcolms points the club has made great achievements in the last 12 months, I personally have had increased workload as due to nobody volunteering to commit to the role of magazine editor since Peters retirement.
Unfortunately the magazine role for me has been quite challenging and time consuming, the members needed regular communication re established which has happened, and the club members have been very supportive with the contributions that I have managed to get published which fills the pages.
Distribution via e-mail has thrown up a fresh challenge that as a non IT background person did not forsee that some members did not receive the publications. Each subsequent tec-topics was larger in file size than the previous, this presumably as sent as an attachment, has most likely been deemed a potential threat and in some cases sent into spam or in one members case not received at all, proven by real time verification with both of us sat at respective pc's and e mailing, tiscali failed to receive the yahoo mail communication but received the aol one and both were sent within seconds of each other. My concern is what % has not been received by the membership. Communication is essential within any organisation, if this breaks down then it leads to failure, post any thoughts on how it could be simplified/improved even ideas from other organisations your part of.
The club needs more hands, this forum for example needs tidied up and old threads removed, anyone up for the challenge to come on board as a forum administrator?
The role of magazine/ communications editor is still vacant, I have filled in temporarily but going forward someone is required for this position.
Post your thoughts of how we can improve/ simplify the club as we move forward.
Harvey

I realise I'm still a bit of a newbie but I might be able to help with some/all of those above points (at least I'd hope so working with IT systems every day ). I can send a message seperately if that's better so as not to go off topic a bit. I'm hoping to get down on Saturday for the event as I was planning on Sunday but can't make it. Look forward to meeting everyone.
