Well what a day , really busy show loads of interest in all the Toyotas , there is a real following out there and Fame . We were honoured to have Barrie Whizzo Williams on the stand who is famous for racing ford escorts but also raced the Celica TA22gt in the british touring car championships in 1975/6, and also ran a white 22gt as a personal car till written of when shunted by a morris minor in hereford . He also raced a black 22gt , so there definitely in his blood. We have had members of public come and see us 2-3 times just because they remember these cars or owned them in the 1970's . Also quite a few membership forms given for new members. Its going to be busy tomorrow , watch out for more photos from tomorrow.

Well after 4 intense days including set up day , we have had a great show , with so much interest in all the cars. Many thanks to all the members who brought cars, members who helped and supported the stand and chatted to the public who wanted to talk to Toyota . WE are now a regular club attendee and i will apply for next years stand once the paperwork turns up. Big thanks to all , just a few more photos to confirm what its all about-Old toyotas !!!!

What a weekend, took us a couple of days to recover. Had visits from Germans, Swedes, Maltese and of course from the Emerald Isle. The TEC stand was in a prime location, walkways on three sides and would be good to have the same next year. Need some carpet for next year maybe sponsored by Toyota same as the showrooms, makes the cars look better and easier on the feet over a long day. Should have gained a few new members out of the weekend. All the cars attracted significant and serious interest, I was asked numerous questions, fortunately Harvey and Malcom were on hand with most of the answers. This was my best image taken before opening with the low sunlight highlighting the colours of the 60s and 70s

Seems to have been a great Show and a big vote of thanks from all TEC members should go to Malcolm and his team - Harvey and John pictured on this Forum site and no doubt many others including the owners who put their cars on display. Sometimes I think we forget the time and effort required in organising and the stamina needed in manning a Stand. John makes a good point in suggesting that Toyota (GB) might help with some furniture and fittings for 2018..
This weeks bumper edition of Classic Car Weekly has quite a bit on the Show and mentions manufacturers like Vauxhall and Porsche who get heavily involved in supporting their Classic Car Clubs - no doubt they realise that most of the attendees are classic enthusiasts, but also buy and drive modern cars, so nice display promotes their name. Great to see in CCW page 10, one of our TEC cars chosen as "one of the NEC Stars we wanted to take home." The wee S800 with the so appropriate Belfast reg number 800 TZ. and a few pages later at 18, a TEC member you might know.

AS Denis says , great to get a mention with the S800 on the TEC stand, with a specific editorial on the car and a supporting photo. Very hard work but great fun , so now looking forward to the practical classic show at the NEC next March.Currently going to book next years stand as now have received the enrolment memo, will look get a same size stand in the same hall. Its great to see the club profile increasing by big strides , the interest in the cars is just phenominal !!!!!
