My ta23gt was bought 19 years ago next month and driven home from Bournemouth with the help of Bob Clarke, it then went into store and it has stayed there ever since. The car was known to the club and was bought from Lynn Brannan in bournemough who had owned just short of 10 years , she was upgrading to a ford escort xr3i. Registered 1st august 1977 , it spent its early years in Harlow essex before heading to the south coast. The car was quite roadworthy but starting to show its age after a refresh 9 years before sale. So i sourced replacement doors , new wings new under valance when acquired. Well last year it came out the lock up and headed to the paint shop for a refresh. needing only a small amount of repair to the shell, corner of drivers side rear cill and outrigger , wheel well and repairing poor repairs to the pockets in the boot, the new panels got rid of all the other rot. Resprayed in burnt orange - original colour , it is now down with Bob for a go through and reassembly. The aim s to have it on the club stand in March at the NEC. This car will be the 4h roadworthy survivor of the 8 left out of the original 100 imported by Toyota GB, reintroduced in January 1977 following Win Percy's success in the British touring car championships its run was short as the ta40 was introduced in August 1977.Just a rare old beast with 1600 2t-g engine, 5 speed box and limited slip diff.
