Hello all,
I am in the process of looking at a 1988 Hiace Super Custom. Its got a 2.4L engine in it.
Ive had the bodywork checked out but have some questions about the engine.
When the guy who currently has it bought it, the cam belt was snapped, which he has repaired. I am trying to find out if the engine is an interference or non-interference engine, but can't find details anywhere.
Does anyone have any information that might be able to help me out? Or know of any experts in and around Manchester who might be able to check it out for me?
Thanks
Ian

Nice Ride. But if you want to be 100% sure, buy a new ProAce! If you buy a 1987 car, you will always have some costs. That's the hobby! Talk to the current owner. If he's an enthousiast, he will tell you what to expect. If he is a con-man, you will buy it anyway.

Hi Ian, I'm fairly certain the old 2.4D was an interference engine if it's the 2L engine.

If its an interference is the engine sure to be knackered after a cam belt snaps.
The guys mechanic has said there was no damage to the pistons and valves etc. and ive driven it and it sounds ok.
Is this likely that there might not have been any damage?
