Hi All, Yes a great gathering on Sunday, really good to have a brief chat with Mr & Mrs Hunter again and seeing them both so well and happy despite everything.
Tried to add some pictures earlier but due to the image / file size limit on this site I may have to reduce the quality of the pictures first unless I can add a link and save them elsewhere at some point.

This year was TEC 30th National Meeting and despite the challenges we had a great turn out. Thanks to everyone who made the effort to attend. Here is the list of winning cars as judged by the members themselves.
Car of the show: John Fardell HI ACE rio Camper. Best 70’s Phil Williamson Celica TA22 Best 80’s Andrew Wyatt Carina 2 h/back Best 90’s Colin Markham Calos Saintz Celica GT4 Best 00’s Gemma Wade Celica 140 Best 10’s Denis Bell GR Yaris Best Sports/ Performance Jeff Markham Celica GT-4 (ST205) Best Saloon Andrew Wyatt Carina 2 h/back Most Original John Fardell HI ACE rio Camper Oldest Car Pete Shergill Celica GT (flatlight)
It must be said that the diversity of vehicles on the day was superb from the mighty Land Cruiser to the 3.5 v6 Blade Master ace ( looks like an Auris) there was something for everyone. Denis Bell from Belfast was showing his latest addition to his Toyota stable the GR Yaris and he has put a few words together in the post below of his thoughts of the weekend.

The Club once again returned this year for the National Rally and AGM to the National Motor Museum at Gaydon. Despite no event last year due to Covid and the threat of fuel shortages, 30 members and their cars gathered last Sunday, in lovely warm Autumn sunshine, on the grass in front of the main building. In fact the weekend began for some the previous evening, when 11 members with 7 cars met for a splendid dinner in the atmospheric Falcon Inn at nearby Hatton. Thanks to Jeff for making the arrangements. One of the greatest assets of the TEC is the wide variety of vehicles owned by the Members. Where else would you find a one make display, that last Sunday contained Family saloons and open Sports cars; Pick ups to Rally based special editions; Campers to 7 seater Estates and sleek Coupes.
Our neighbouring Club on the day was the SCC Supercar Club. For me a low slung Lamborgini looks much the same as a Ferrari, looks the same as a Mc Laren. The organiser a friendly chap, his name Jon came over to see us - he owns a Lexus LS430 - emphasising it's a private Club, my goodness, membership by invitation only, depending on owning a car from their list of exotica. Despite that some of them left snorting and revving loudly, the sort of thing that does the Classic Car movement no favours and criticised recently in Classic Car Weekly. TEC members too well mannered to behave like that.
After, for most a picnic lunch the AGM was held again outside in the sun. Main topic was to try and improve communication to the membership with a number of ideas suggested including a more regular Newsletter and maybe an Annual calendar. Increased use of the Club Forum and Facebook was discussed - the latter well suited for passing immediate information .Good then to see complimentary comments on the Rally already posted on the Forum and thanks to the members who put excellent photos on Facebook almost before many of us got home. The Prize giving followed and the winners listed separately. Maybe just a wee mention of John Fardell's winning Camper and Car of the Show. No Trailer Dolly this one, towed on a trailer to the Show as you sometimes see. Despite its wonderful originality and immaculate turn out it's also a working vehicle. Now familiar as Rally HQ, where we can check in and votes get counted, while two years ago it served as a great taxi, John driving, to take 5 of us to dinner at the Falcon.
Malcolm has been reminding us that 2021 is the 50th Anniversary of the Celica model being launched in the UK, going to be featured on out NEC Stand, so it was lovely to see the 6 first generation Celicas present, all preface lift 22 series, lined up for a photo just before we left. A fitting end to a great day out - thanks to Malcolm and Harvey for their work in organising it - roll on 2022.

I for one am disappointed with the lack of use the forum gets and that has been the case since it was first started. In terms of getting less computer orientated members to use the internet, a good forum is the key. Facebook and other alternatives are more advanced for basic internet users and I for one don’t like Facebook so will never use it. The forum itself I have had to rejoined as a fresh member 3 or 4 time due to it’s not keeping my details stored, this is frustrating as I was one of the top posters attempting to keep the forum flowing when it was first started. My own opinion is the club is so small and you can not be doing with all the different formats of communication, get all your eggs in one basket…newsletter…..forum or Facebook. Just an example of lack of use , Harvey before the post above your last visit was June 6th 2019 and you are an administrator Anyway that’s a little food for thought 👍🏻 please see this a positive input and not criticism cheers Bob King

Bob thanks for the feedback. The forum use was discussed at the AGM by the members and webmaster Adam has concluded this proboards configuration is not fit for propose in the respect of its very restricted as to the data that can be uploaded particularly trying to post pics,he an admin and IT professional cannot rectify members password and login issues that you have experienced.
I rarely post on the forum but I can assure you that 2 years ago was not my last visit or login to the forum perhaps that was my last post. Adam is looking for a better forum platform that might be easier for all to use, and archive what is presently here. We have had a natural shift to facebook for the majority of the club communication, but a forum still has its place, just unfortunately not used much and has never been used by about 80% of the subscribed members.
