Nick, very, very nice....great work. questions: what front brakes do you have installed??? I have many problems of overheating (front discs) in my TA23 when I run in the classic rally. I am thinking in brake upgrade, what idea do you have to improve the front brakes in our TA23?? I read in some forums that installing the calipers of HILUX LN106 with ventilated discs PEUGEOT would they improve considerably, what do you think? Thanks reply, Gerardo My TA23

Hi Gerardo brakes are standard for the time being, the calipers have been reconditioned. have read that some where also, i just want to get it on the road & put up a few miles it has swallowed too much money.

Hi Geraldo Thats a lovely car and you seem to have added a bit of Rally equipment yet keep it period looking. Re: brakes my TA22GT is bog standard but does smell warm if you push it on. But the type of Classic Rallying an old boy like me does has only Regularity and Autotests, with no Special Stages and hence usually not too much speed. My ex. BTCC race TA40 seems to have standard brakes too as we used standrd parts on a recent caliper rebuild. It seems though, not get as warm and I assume the installation goes back to its Martin Brundle/Win Percy race days. But maybe with more performance and handling we don't have to use them as much. Pics and info. of both on Features, this web site.

I think the brakes on the 2litre cars are a slightly bigger size, so they might be worth a try and are an easier swap: that's RA28, RA40, etc. I had a ta23 once and they definitely faded quicker than the RA28 I have now (although I used to drive faster hen I was younger!) I have heard of the Aus and NZ people doing the peugeot/hilux conversion which sounds good. You need to get the hubs redrilled too, if you want to keep your wheels. Have you looked at AE86 Corrolla? Al

AE86 struts would be the best bet, aftermarket parts are readily available, the struts will bolt in with some minor mods im told, then you can get brakes to suit them, vented discs etc.
thats what im planning for my TA22, just cant find the AE86 parts anywhere!

Thanks for the reply boys brakes my TA22GT is bog standard but does smell warm if you push it on. But the type of Classic Rallying an old boy like me does has only Regularity and Autotests, with no Special Stages and hence usually not too much speed. Exactly in the Classic Rallying is only Regularity and Autotests not too much speed, but sometimes we get lost of the route and have to run very much to reach our theoretical time. In addition the roads sometimes are with many descents, the brakes suffer much. I possibly also use much the brakes ;D ;D I think the brakes on the 2litre cars are a slightly bigger size...... I have heard of the Aus and NZ people doing the peugeot/hilux conversion which sounds good. You need to get the hubs redrilled too, if you want to keep your wheels. Have you looked at AE86 Corrolla? Al It might be a good solution, I will look at the brakes of 2L., as for the AE86 also might be a good solution. I want to keep the measure of the wheels 13 ", for it I have very complicated the conversion. AE86 struts would be the best bet, aftermarket parts are readily available, the struts will bolt in with some minor mods im told, then you can get brakes to suit them, vented discs etc. thats what im planning for my TA22, just cant find the AE86 parts anywhere!...... your TA23 looks great! I will look and inform the parts of AE86, though I hear that these not are good brakes. I donĀ“t know if it be true. thank for the positive comment Ummmmm... I already had seen it, but requires 15" or larger wheels. I want to keep the measure of the wheels 13". Nick, I am sorry by damaged your post with commentaries of my TA23 Thanks to all, Gerardo

Gerardo,
Try finding some harder compound competition brake pads. They make a big difference.
Just remember they need to be warmed up to work properly.

Hi Nick Your car looks fantastic. Well done. What is the thing that sits under the front bumper between the side lights? I thought maybe an oil cooler but it seems too long. Is it a grille of some sort? Can't really see in the photos. Al
