Hi i have just bought this celica not sure of which model (st185??) as it came over from England yesterday, my mate bought it & i twisted his arm to sell it to me, so i only have a little tear off slip off the reg document, my problem is that the drivers side pop up headlight is out of sync with the other one ( which is fine) & it takes quite a few flashes of the switch to line them up again, it looks funny when the car is winking at you, any one know how to fix this problem?

Nick Looks like a nice car. The TGB offical Production list I have gives the 2 Litre GT with the 3S-GE engine, which I reckon you have as ST182 and the 4WD Turbo versions as ST185. I mentioned your problem to my local independant Toyota specialist and they would be looking at an electrical fault. As the light goes up and down suggests not the motor which activates it. Look at the connections for corrosion, including a plug which brings the current into the motor and clean if neccessary. His suggestion, not mine as I have never tackled the problem! Unfortunately the "boss man" Stephen Mc Kee, is off this week but give me a call next week if still in trouble and I will speak to him.
Denis.

Thanks very much Denis will try that, if no joy i will phone you next week, cheers for the info, its very clean only a couple of small dents but previous owner cut the inside lip of the rear arches for wide wheels i guess, will tidy that up, its only got 76000 miles mot april 08 tax oct 07 , i really like it, argued with the insurance cos the quote they gave me friday doubled on monday after i bought the car but i won in the end, will duty it into the south after the tax runs out or the revenue make me, cheers Nick.

Clean looking celica there , Its an st182 model anyway . The st185 is ,as said the 4wd turbo version. Problem sounds to be an electrical one as suggested .Once it is actually popping up some bit then the motor must be working ,so it must be a bad connection or something.

Yes its a st182 found the vin plate while stripping the lights today, it had a mr2 motor on the o/s replaced with a celica one still the same instead of rotating 180 degrees & then closing 180 degrees the arm goes a wee bit further say 190 degrees & then the same to close so i can have 1 open & the other closed, maby its a relay, remember hearing something about these years ago but not sure, all the connections are clean & greased, someone must have had this problem before, at least i found the adjuster to bring the o/s light back up full.

Is this sorted out ? I had a similar problem on my 185 and it turned out to be a sticking relay
