The very first Toyota "Baby" was the 1960 Publica 700, 2-door saloon. The engine was an air-cooled flat twin of 697 cc producing 35 bhp at 4 600 rpm. Within a couple of years the engine was enlarged to 790 cc and the model changed to 800. A 3-door utility wagon and a 2-door pickup were added to the range, and later there was even a cabriolet! The 800 platform was then used for the S800 Sports.
