On its introduction into the UK and European market in the early 70s the Hi-ace became a suitable platform for severeal of the Motor Caravan companies
one of the first was Caravans International Motorised which became CI Motorhomes .
the 'CAMPER' as it was called had simulated burmese teak interior very 70s with a Ferndown elevating roof or 'Poptop.
Danbury conversions from Essex also used the early Hi-Ace as a base model with the Danbury Toyota Mark1 and the Hunter delux with elevation roof. notice in the adverts of the period the adults are always same-- just the dogs and kids are different.
Danbury continued with the new hiace in the late 70s simplicity and comfort, a poptop with a nice low roof line & 12R motor
Iam lacking information on the Dormobile versions if anyone has any? all I know is that they were 25% more expensive than their competitors
