well, the old girl is running, sort of! need to get the carbs tuned up and get the ignition timing sorted - but she lives!!!
any tips for getting an exhaust? don't have the cash for a fully kitted system at the moment, just need something cheap and cheerful that can be fitted without too much fuss
cheers,
Ian

So I was browsing the forum, realised I never updated the thread in a long time! Sorry! Car was back on the road around 4 years ago but the past 2 I have been working and living in London. Car is still back home, looking forward to tinkering and getting it MOT'd next week! Here's a few pictures to get you guys up to speed! Firstly the 2T-G had a few issues, I considered stripping it down again, but scored a running motor locally complete with carbs! It has no engine number, nothing sinister or ground off! just "2T - " so not really sure of the history, but seems to have modified cams in it as once on the power it really revs - unfortunately idle is quite lumpy and I did have to re-jet the carbs! Had a red valve cover on it for a year but I sold the old engine and wanted to keep the older style valve cover so I went back to the black cover. Lots of detail work... Detailed the interior, new carpets... ...and a Toyota 8 track deck! Correct rear '73 GT emblem Correct '73 front GT emblem

Thanks a lot!! Yeah, I am - love coming home to drive it!
Couple of bits I'd like to get sorted, radiator sprung a leak after being hit by a stone, not the best radiator in the world anyway - would like to replace it, currently fixed with strong epoxy! In an ideal world I'd have replaced the doors too, but too thin on the ground! They hold up well considering though!
Got a small list I'd like to fix! Gonna treat the carbs to a rebuild soon, general tune up and service too! Has a small oil leak from an unknown sender in the sump - guess its for oil temp?

Just got back to London after a week up North, weather was glorious so did some work on the car... Modified the stock points distributor with a new module from Powerspark. Think it's very similar to the Pertronix kits lots of the Americans use. Got a really good deal on it and a new coil, so replaced the pair. Before Distributor stripped down... Rebuilt with new internals... Added a new disconnect like the factory electronic setup Back to a new Lucas sport coil All in all I'm really impressed with the quality and setup, the spark is much stronger and more uniform across the rev range. Powerspark have great customer service, when I had a little problem, which turned out to be a crappy distributor cap, they were very helpful on the phone. Treated the car to a coolant and oil change too, seems like the car is running rich at idle now, so may need to find some smaller pilot jets for the Mikunis!

Was the powerspark an easy fit and did you need the coil or just done it through choice ?

Bob,
It couldn't be easier, two screws that are used for the breakers are used to hold the module, with a little bit of heatsink paste on the underside of the module base - LT wire to the black lead and a new wire back to the + side of the coil.
You don't need to change the coil, so long as it has a primary resistance of 1.5 to 3 Ohms. My coil was old and of unknown origin so I chose to replace it, but if your coil is in good knick you'll be fine.
I got mine on eBay, listed for a Bedford Radcal/Suzuki SuperCarry. All the same ND dizzy internals.
So far so good, I'll keep you all posted should any issues arise!

Got 4 of my fleet on the powerspark system , no trouble whatever ,I carry the old removed points and condensor in the glovebox just incase the set up fails and can be returned to conventional ignition by the roadside. Your car is looking great really suits the yellow
