Only just found this site and wonder if anyone can help. My 81 year old Dad has a 1966 Corona in his garage - hasn't been driven for over 20 years but has been kept safe and warm for all that time. We're not into restoration so would like to sell it but have no ideas as to the best place to advertise it. At the moment it has a cherished registration on it as well. Any ideas as to what to do would be gratefully received.

Hi Welcome to the TEC. One of the best palces seems to be Ebay if you have something a bit out of the ordinary. Exposure in a forum like this would help you aswell. Could you put some pictures up on here as I'm sure there would be some very interested members and maybe even a few bids coming from members of this club. 1966 means it must be one of the first in the UK, assuming you are in the UK.

Apparantly this was the first Toyota imported into this country but I don't think we have any verification of that - other than my father used to work in what was then known as Motor Tax and therefore he knew about these things! Adding a photo might be a bit technical for me but I will try!

You'll upset TEC member Dave Clark from Cannock. He's owned a 1967 car from new and revels in scooping the oldest Toyota award at the AGM every year. Now it appears there's an older car that could be doing the shows in the right hands !!!!!!

Apparantly this was the car imported by Austin for evaluation purposes and is believed to be the first Toyota in Britain. It's a 1966 model first registered in 67. We are in the West Midlands by the way. It has a new cylinder head, pistons and valve springs plus spare valve springs, a nearly new clutch and there are spare brake shoe linings. It was driven into the garage about 20 years ago and has been there ever since. The tyres are no good but everything else is as was. Any idea what price I should be asking for it? I have no clue as to these things.

i31.photobucket.com/albums/c366/big-yin/100_3870.jpgThis is Dave's car and as can be seen is a West Midlands registered car (-RF in the reg). I'm sure Dave would love to bring his car over to you and get them both together for a photo as well as talk Coronas in general. I don't think he does a lot on the forum though but I can arrange something as I'm South Cheshire/North Staffs based and only 20 mins from Dave in Cannock. Regards, Ian.
