I have been advised by a number of sources, including sid23ta of a super 10 min. tape of the 1977 RAC Rally on "you tube". I'm no expert on the computer but can find it by typing in Escort Stratos pure sounds RAC. Some of you experts can correct me if there is an easier way.
Includes great action and engine sounds of Mikkola who finished second in the TTE car - 2 Litre 16v. Note that while Rally was in Nov 1977, TTE still using the 22 shell even though the 23 face lift available from 1975-77. I reckon because the 22 was shorter and the Celica already seen as a fairly bulky car against the opposition, although your Editor Peter thinks may have been a question oF Homologation. (Which model they had approved in this degree of development, with the governing body of Rallying). This weeks leading mag. Motorsport News also raving about how well the Mikkola car sounds.
Would love one, but if I had one, might even be tempted to swap it for that Alatalia Stratos!

Thanks for sorting that Al. The clip I saw was a 10 minute one with no commentary, so your Part 1 and 2 cover it and more, with some commentary. Great coverage - did you notice the Celica a wee bit fluffy at lower revs on the slower corners, so the 2 Litre 16v a bit peaky. Good that the TA22 is getting appreciated outside TEC circles. As I commented, it is mentioned in this weeks Motorsport News and one of the people who tipped me off originally, to the tape was Mark Hughes who is Grand Prix Editor of the leading motorsport magazine Autosport, who is an enthusiast from when his dad had one, in the seventies.
