Hey guys, first post! But its a pain in the but! I recently bought this car from an older couple 99cam.V6. amazing shape, church going car. Luckily it only had 50k miles on it. This car sat for some time and was not driven regularly. Check engine light was on so i took it home, and im checked out on my odb what it can be. So I popped out with P0171-system to lean (Could this be a MAF malfunction?) also im getting p0300 301 303 and 305. multiple cylinder misfire, i changed the plugs and wires and still same thing. What the hell do i do? Can any lean me in the right direction? charlie from nj

If you tap each of the codes into your internet seach ,it will come up with people that have had the same problem and how they fixed it. What you can do yourself is start with the basics, lean fuel could be clogged air filter, dirty fuel filter etc. If its a sensor you maybe able to clean it, if all that fails, its a big intake of breath and visit a local garage or Toyota main dealer.

Check all your vacuum pipes for leaks, or just buy a length and replace them for peace of mind. Clean the breather pipes and pcv valve.

Hi
The code P0171 according to my list says it's reading to much oxygen in the exhaust of bank one , could be due to MAF sensor faulty / dirty or could be vacuum leak downstream of MAF or possibly lambda sensor on it's way out.
I'm just wondering if that could be showing up as / causing the misfire problem as well.
If it was me I would try cleaning the MAF / check for vacuum leaks , then reset the ecu and try it and see what happens.
