As my 22 kept grinding to a halt due to fuel not getting to go where it should, plus using my foot pump to blow the dirt back into the tank. i got the tank oot fir a wee lookie. And behold it was full o rust, took off the sender unit and with a high powerd hose blasted throught the tank for some time, empted and took to house for a lookie inside, not so good and the outlet at the top o the tank was blocked. So Got Caths 200HP Hairdryer GTS, the head just fitted nice on the sender hole, I blocked the Inlet, and put the foot down, err sorry the finger down ;D and tons o rust blasted up the outlet and the return pipes to the carbs. kept going to no more rust would come out even with me bumping the tank in the tile floor to dislodge and rust. Plus it fair dried the inside o the tank The dryer came to a stanstill so i Sneeked it back to where i got it, hope she doint need it in the morning Ready to fit back in tomorrow night ;D

The yellow peril has had some surgery by myself and Alan at the weekend.it runs sometimes ok and sometimes like a donkey!! The Celica is joining Gemmas 1000 and Peter Hunters Crown coupe in Glasgow next week for the start of the Monte carlo classic rally, so Alan didnt want any mishaps on the start ramp and if it broke down during the run to Dumfries with Mrs Big Al navigating he might have a bigger problem on his hands listening to her wrath! We swapped one of the carbs nearest the bulkhead which would decide not to idle intermittently, with one of mine of my project Celica , which has been off the road for about 20 years so it was an unknown quantity, idle was fine but on the road it was still not 100% so plan 2 came into action! I have a spare 2T Carina manifold and robbed my carb and linkage from my Carina, which was running fine when last used in 2009 so we converted it to single carb spec as was fitted to LT Celicas. A bit of plumbing ajustments and having to make a carb to manifold gasket we were about to see if it would run ok. Test run proved almost 100% apart from the idle sticking a bit high. Investigation proved the throttle linkage on the Carina differs in respect to the size of the tensioning spring so once this was swapped it was running as they say" like a dream" ;D Im sure we will hear from Al how things are doing. Next job is an ultrasonic clean and rebuild of his originals once a set of carb overhaul kits are sourced
