Evening all. My dad was a TEC member several years ago (still got the keyring and window sticker on the car!), and now that he's moved to the Middle East he's passed his MA61 1986 Celica Supra to me! I couldn't be more proud to own this beast, it's nothing short of beautiful. It's been well looked after, having spent the past five years in a dry garage. It's got the trademark MA61 sunroof rot and leaking fuel tank, but I'm hoping to get those fixed before the good weather goes. Everything else works, including all the electronics, and this car has the ultra-cool digital dashboard - I'm a huge BTTF fan so this car massively appeals! Slight modifications are a free-flow air filter and a stainless exhaust, which sounds godly around 4,000 RPM. Oh, and the engine is perfect - measured at 176 horsepower in 2006, down from 178 at the factory. I really love this car! More photosI'd definitely like to bring it to a TEC meet, if there's one in the south-east sometime

Welcome to the club good to have another MA61 on the site. You did make contact with me from the Pratical Classic site, mine was the Red supra. Tyres can still be purchased but only avalible in 235/60/14, not the orginal 225/60/14. Bob

Bob Hi Bob, I saw your posts around here and figured you were the same guy Thanks for the recommendation to join. For the moment the Supra has a full set of Avon tyres with excellent tread. I can't seem to find any 14" tyres in the common sizes though; the closest I've found is 205/60R14s, which I've been told will fit, but may deform under load so would have to be overinflated and wouldn't agree with high speed. My current plan is to put new, bigger wheels on it - it'll probably work out cheaper than trying to source these rare tyres! At least this isn't an immediate problem. I've already put 2,500 miles on this car this summer! It'll be put back in the garage over winter (no way in hell I'm putting it on a gritted road) but until then I intend to get my use out of it! Edit: actually, look what I just found, 225/40R14. Would these fit? And they're Toyos, too! www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?s_p=Toyo-PROXES-T1-R-225_40-R14-82V-with-rim-protection-ridge-_FSL_&details=Ordern&typ=R-119085&cart_id=45064255.110.3235&ranzahl=4&Breite=225&Quer=40&Felge=14&Speed=V&weiter=0&kategorie=6&Ang_pro_Seite=15&Transport=P&dsco=110&m_s=3&x_tyre_for=ALL&rsmFahrzeugart=ALL

Thanks for the tip Bob, I will. Hopefully won't be for a while. Nice car! Welcome aboard, whereabouts in the SE are you? Thanks! I'm based in Kent, nowhere in particular although I frequent the Swanley and Tonbridge areas.

You asked on the Pratical classic forum about a fuel leak, it may not be the tank but the filler neck behind the plastic wing liner, worth a look before getting involved with the tank out. You and I must have met at some time in the past if you ever went to the Bromley pageant with your dad, we parked next to each other a couple of times.

You and I must have met at some time in the past if you ever went to the Bromley pageant with your dad, we parked next to each other a couple of times. Very possible we did, I've definitely been to Bromley Pageant with the Supra, however I'm very bad with faces Still, I intend to take it there next year provided everything's fixed! Incidentally, the gallery you linked me has some photos of the car my dad sent in years ago. A local mechanic has already had the tank out and tried to fix it but admitted defeat. Thankfully the tank in this car has been out a few times (not exactly 'thankfully'), so means the components are a bit more willing to be removed without breaking. I've been quoted a base price of £200 to have the tank professionally repaired. I've also found a spare tank at a scrappie's in N. Ireland for £50, the guy assures me it's not leaking and would cost less than the same to get it shipped to the mainland. Not sure which option I want to pursue right now.

Related: Supra spares are now quite plentiful in Luxembourg!
