Dear Enthusiasts, l need help tracing the following registration number, SET 1S which was attached to a Toyota Land cruiser after September 2004 and stayed on the vehicle until 8th July 2010, when another registration number was attached which l only know the following letters and numbers, because that is all l have been able to obtain from DVLA due to the data protection act, Y-54--- this probably is not very help full to you, I can tell you the Land cruiser was registered in Yorkshire, the first owners where Thornton sports who at the time were operating in Yorkshire, but now operate from Altham Lancashire also l have been told the land cruiser was involved during 2010 in a serious accident near Guilford also that the owners of this registration number SET 1S wish to sell this number but the web site the owners listed this number with have been unable make contact with them by phone or E mail as they are believed to be abroad at present, l also know SET 1S is held on retention by DVLA, perhaps somebody within the club has access to this land cruiser by service records as l know the vehicle was regularly serviced by the original supplying main dealer, or maybe somebody has access to insurance data, the reason l am trying to trace registration number SET 1S is because l now own the car which had this registration number when my car was new June 1986, as such all the original invoices and service books bear this number.

Hi and welcome to the club, does the DVLA not give details of a car owners if just cause ? I can see your complication that it's not registered to a car, just on a retention certificate, I would think your trail as gone cold , untill its attacted to a new vehicle

hi uncle bob, thank you for your reply, I have written to the DVLA three times, also paid the fee requested, three times they have told me it is not a valid request due to the data protection act, l also wrote to DVLA enclosing a letter for the owner of registration number, SET 1S also included a stamped addressed envelope for them to use, and asked for them to forward my letter to the owner, as this would not affect the owners data protection, because he would be in control of release of his data, but they refused to do this for me.
