Hi everyone, I buy and sell cars and motorcycles occasionally to fund restoring my own cars and I just made a great find. I want to do the best I can selling it although it’s a great car and there’s a chance I may keep it.
It's a 1973 Toyota Celica. I bought it from the original owner last week. She had it repainted (original color) in 1992 because "it was faded a little". No accidents, no rust. She then put it in her garage, under a car cover and never drove it again! The only significant wear is the cloth inserts on two of the seats. I know I'm not touching anything to alter its originality. I’m looking for two things. One is to establish its value, the other is to find its best market if I sell. I know it loses a bit of value being an ST rather than a GT, being automatic, and having been repainted but it can still demand a premium price.
Any help or opinions would be really appreciated.
Thanks, Colin.

Do you have any pics , I was not aware that the auto was available for the 1.6 ST range in 1973 certainly not in the UK but I could be mistaken, the TA23 from late 75 had the auto in conjunction with the 2.0 18R engine.

Thanks Harvey, I’ll post some photos tonight. The car is in Canada, maybe different offerings back then here?

HI Canada and USA market is very different to the UK , over values , so our guide figures are irrelevant in your market place as yours are much lower than ours. Also we didn't get the 20r engine in the uk or the automatic. Good barometer are the 1st gen celica site on Facebook as lots of americans on there or 1stgen celica.com which is an american site and run by mike santos who is on facebook. hope this helps malcolm

Hey - sorry you didn't get much help on this. Beautiful vintage car! I'm sure the next owner will be a very happy customer if you decide to sell it.
Did you manage to establish any sort of valuation on this thing? I'd give you my help if I could do so but I'm really not the man for the job.
All the best!
