Hi,
I have trouble posting images on forums but I might try later
The car I’m talking about is reasonably well known but has never made it to any shows outside of Norfolk.
It’s a red, 1966 Sports 800 with the above 3K B engine. It spent too much time in the garage over the lockdowns and early last year, for the first time in 30 years, it failed to start. I tried everything that I could but to no avail so sent it Dan at DMD in Lammas, Norfolk. The engine was very poorly, hence the thread.
That’s not all. Again, at the end of lockdown, my brother came across a Sports 800 mother lode. The car, 1965, and it’s spares had been used to fill a container full of classic motorbikes! So, we got the car , fitted out with period Corbeau seats and steering wheel, all of the original seats and trim, a tuned engine in situ plus 2 spares, gearboxes, spare boot lids, steel wheels and two sets of period alloys, and boxes of spares. How it was allowed to leave Japan I don’t know.
The red car should be going down to London to live by Easter and then I can start work on the standard car.
All good fun and the 3KB engine is a story of its own.

Hi mate.
Yes I would love to hear the story of your 3-KB rebuild.
Is the 3=KB the original engine in the 800?
I`m having the HP dilemma at the moment. Should I swap engines and take away from the originality of my car, or should I try and breath on the 3-KB and get a little more HP out of it and just enjoy the car? I would like to maybe find out the easiest engine swaps for my Corolla and have some fun with higher power to weight ratios and give some boy racers a scare, but be able to reverse any work so as to keep my car original.
Did you have the engine worked on for more HP?
These cars weigh next to nothing so a few HP more can make a biggish difference.
Let me know your story.
Thank you for your interest in my car too.
Thank you very much.
Robert (Leicester, UK)
