Hi there Tony, i unfortunately dont have any pics of the Blackhawk i had, just the memories. We had a couple of "special" models over there, one of my favourites being the TE72 TRD'S, these were 1800 TE72 Liftback Corolla's which had been modified at the Factory. The first one's to come off the line were white with a red stripe from the front to rear similar to the Rally cars Toyota were racing at that time. They were fitted with stronger valve springs, modified cam, tubular branch exhaust and a pair of Dell'orto Sidedraughts(3T Engine). They were noisy but quick and very sought after cars. The later models got the same treatment but came out in Blue and were a bit more refined, again very sought after. If only i had bought one of each and kept them.....

Couldn't agree more, the 2T engine was ahead of its time,in my younger days I fitted a 2T-B fitted to my KE-35SR and then fitted a pair of 40mm DHLA dellortos with a mangoletsi inlet manifold, and a janspeed manifold from a TA22 Celica. That motor could move in its day and sounded great, pity the 1200 diffs couldnt take the abuse that I subjected them to.
I bought my first AE86 in 1988 and experienced the marvel of the 4A-GE,all my mates couldn't believe how it would rev all day long well past 7000rpm when most performance hatches at that time would red line about 6000rpm.

^ But in true Jap style was copied from somebody else.
In the case of the 4AGE Engine it's Jap Lotus/Ford Twincam copy but without the oil leaks round the spark plug holes.

The 4A-GE 16v engine was certainly nothing like what Lotus/Ford had ever produced and certainly was not a copy.
The 2T-G was the copy engine (and much improved and more reliable) which was based on a pushrod block "T" series engine with the Yamaha designed 8 valve twincam head on top.

^ The Toyota 4AGE engine was designed with help from LOTUS (and Yamaha) If you wish to know more about this engine's history I can send you an article from Kit Car magazine which was done with advice from RAW Kit Car manufactureers

Are you going to billing this weekend? If so bring the literature along, Toyota had propduced more twin-cam engines than any other manufacturers in the world by the eighties and I believe this is still the case to date.
