Hi all,
Just joined up so thought I'd introduce my car.
It's a mustard yellow 1975 Toyota 1000 that my grandfather bought new, then gave me when I was learning to drive. I think a few of you may have seen it quite a few years ago here in Belfast?
I had a tuned 4K engine and K50 gearbox fitted but when I stopped using it as everyday transport, decided to go for more power so currently the spec is as follows : -
4A-GE engine with T-VIS from Corolla AE86
T50 gearbox from AE86
engine oil filter relocated on inner wing
oil cooler from Corolla AE92
Daihatsu diesel radiator
Peugeot cooling fan on front of radiator, blowing into engine bay
battery relocated in boot
AE86 fuel pump fitted in modified standard fuel tank
home-made inlet trunking with foam air-filter
home-made down-pipes
home-made 2" exhaust from downpipes back
home-made front strut brace
one-off front coil springs - lowered 1", uprated 25% on struts uprated 15%
modified rear leaf springs - lowered 1", uprated 25% with new standard dampers
nylon rear suspension bushes by a workmate
all front suspension bushes replaced with custom polyurethene
Peugeot steel wheels on front - 5x13 with 155/70 tyres
Ford steel wheels on rear - 5.5x13 with 185/60 tyres
Girling racing brake master cylinder with remote reservoir
239mm vented discs from a Ford XR2 with AP 4-piston calipers
home-made clutch master cylinder mounting under dashboard
AE86 clutch master cylinder using remote reservoir
stainless steel braided hoses for all hydraulics
home-made brake caliper mounts, engine mounts and gearbox crossmember
one-off prop-shaft made by local engineering works
shortened AE86 gear lever with alloy gear-knob by a workmate
Cobra bucket seat with home-made mounts and TRS 4-point harness
Smiths tacho in place of combination fuel/water temp gauge in original dash
alloy centre console with water temp, fuel, voltmeter, oil pressure gauges
AE86 ignition switch fitted to machined adapter to retain original 1000 ignition key
aftermarket fuseboxes used to simplify wiring
alloy/leather 3-spoke steering wheel found on an old Celica
Sparco alloy pedals
It's now back in my garage to have the bodywork tidied up before a respray.
Aaron.
