Can anyone help me out on this? I don't want to go too mad, just so the wheels fill the arches....

A 1" or 25-35 mm seems a popular drop in spring height, i'm told it gives better handling yet the ride is just a little firmer. I'm also looking into springs for my Celica-supra and a brand called AVO seem to tick all my boxes, 30mm lower , better car control and still has a comfy ride. www.avouk.com/

I bought slightly stiffer springs for my Mk1 Celica and compressed their free length 1 inch by doing a spot of heat treatment! If they are done with very quick, localised heat and allowed to cool slowly, it works perfectly well. (You need oxy-acetylene) I've done it a few times in the past and never had a problem. (but you will get lots people telling you it's a disaster and not to do it) You will get a little more bumpsteer if you lower the front so the camber adjusters that Sid mentions would be a good thing, but for a 1 inch drop, I never bothered with them. Tell us what kind of Corolla you have and somebody might have a more specific answer for you. Al

It's a TE51, parts for it are very thin on the ground!

As its leaf sprung lowering blocks for the rear is the easiest option, front coils should be easier to sort out. Many years ago I got lowering blocks made for my TE51 basicly copying my mates Mk2 escort ones.

I did think about it but AVO have stop making them in the UK, and all the other brands are OZ or USA and i'm not paying massive shipping costs

Lowered my TE71 all round some years ago. The springs from an AE86 fitted perfectly and you get a choice of settings, they were from FENSPORT, Chatteris Cambs, its worth giving them a ring. Hope this helps.... Stu.
