I see one of these on ebay, F reg, 1988. I can't remember seeing them in 4wd. It looks like a UK spec. Were there many around with 4wd?

Hi Al
Trust all is well in the sunny North West. The answer is "Yes". A model imported by TGB that hardly sold at all. I,m not so good on series numbers but it was the second gen. Camry into the UK. Only one logged in N.Ireland to my knowledge - a demo. car we licenced. Reckon we should start a thread sometime, on the rarest models ever officially imported by TGB. - above model would be in contention. Another one - the handful of early 205 GT4's with the big wing for homologation purposes! See your note too, for the chap looking for info. on a RA 23 auto. (also a rare bird) As you see in my reply I agree with you - the auto. seems quite critical on hot/cold capacaties. Regards- Dinger.

The Camry was UK spec, one of Toyota's dip toe in water and see how well it sells ....or not as the case maybe, the spec was... 2.0i GLi saloon, model code SV25, Engine code 3S-FE, Made between 1987-89

Hi Bob Thanks for that. Not being good on these series nos. had a look at my "UK imports from 1965" document. A TGB production, generally accurate but not infallible! Engine code as you say - full Toyota Model Code - SV25R- UEMNKW. But interestingly the production dates listed only as Oct 87 to Aug 88 which would be factory production - not UK import dates. Seems then, the factory had little general success with it either. The GLi saloon and estate listed at an almost 5 year production life 10/86 to 6/91. I,m sure the World was waiting for that important bit of info! Cheers.
