I have a 6 gen convertible auto all of a sudden it started driving badly it will idle very well but no power and when forced it will rev but no higher than 3000 with misfires splutters. I have a service manual and tested all the parts also changed plugs, rotor arm, cap, igniter, also changed the guts inside the distributor as it was showing a poor ohms reading on one test from the service manual i have a throttle position sensor ordered but the readings looks good on that also. There is no code present. If anyone can help i would appreciate it or if you knows somebody i could contact for assistance.

Sounds like you have done most of the electrical checks…have you thought about water in the tank or restricted flow from tank to engine ? Can you get to the fuel pump unit from under (I think) the back seat and see if the pump has gone rusty . blow through the fuel lines to make sure they are clear and also change fuel filter 👍🏻 My line of thought is restricted fuel flow, enough fuel is getting through at idle but becomes restricted at higher rpm . Most old Toyota’s with electric fuel pumps in the tank are notorious for corroding and giving trouble ….good luck.

Thanks Bob, was going to check the fuel but i need a M12x1.25 banjo bolt connection to tap into the fuel line i have it ordered will let you know how i get on don't use the car much and only in the summer being a convertible so there's no rush but its frustrating not being able to diagnose the problem the engine light comes on immediately after being reset but on code.

Hi Bob
I found the fault after checking everything twice i checked the ECU opened and found 2 capacitors leaking when i Googled it this is a common fault on all Toyotas from 1990 to 1998 i will have to practice my soldering skills
