I owned this Crown back in 1996, she was in metallic brown with beige cloth trim, i bought it for the wife to use and she loved it to bit, despite its size it was easy to park, and she always got admiring glances, and coments like "that's a big car for you to be driving" , we had it for 15 months and had very few problems (well more service items), she needed a full set of tyres, if fitted 205/70/14's and a set of rear pads. The only unexpected items were a broken windscreen and the driver window runner rusted away and the glass fell out !, i rang my local dealer and they had a replacment part within 2 days at a cost of £18.00. I still have a soft spot for the MS112, and an old boy local to me has one ,i sometimes change my commuter run just to pass it, and remember the good old days ;D. [ftp][/ftp] [ftp][/ftp]

Your brown Crown looked real nice bob - looks almost black in the pics. What sort of mileage was it?
What colour / condition / model is the other one local to you?

Hi Bob,
Your brown Crown you had is identical to mine, colour and interior. The only difference being the single headlights, grill, alloys and rear discs. Your wheel centre caps I managed to get one of ebay, removed the badge and put on my wheel trim. Your centre caps were used on landcruisers as well. I see the rear number plate was not original, mine is the correct oversize one.
Is your old car still about then?

The oversize rear plates do give an MS112 some gravitas - really suit it.

My old Crown had 89000 miles when i sold her. The Crown i pass on my travels is a pale gold one , with lots of green mould growing off it .

The oversize rear plates do give an MS112 some gravitas - really suit it. As some of you purists may have noticed , the rear number plate surround is normally matt black, but i gave it a good rub with some wire wool, and it came up all chromey like you can see in the photo.

Sneaky one with the wire wool.
I take it the Gold one's not exactly cherished or on the road! Is it 2 or 4 headlamp?

Its a single headlamp model, its seems to be in a rust free condition and all the trim is in good nick, but its just never washed, and in two years of passing ,i've only ever seen it off the drive once, maybe he only goes out in the day, nor rust hour time ;D.

come on bob, get called in and get it bought for a £100, you know you want to. It can't look too pricy having not been washed in 2 yrs.
Or let the guy know there is an avenue for him to sell it on, in case it otherwise just went to the crushers? Could always post it for sale on this forum on his behalf, some TECcie may be very glad of it.
All the best, Tony

All the best, Tony Don't get me wrong its not dumped on his drive, he must just only use it a few times a month, and the last thing i need is a bloody great Crown filling up the drive, it would end in divorce papers within the week ;D ;D.

Hi Bob,
Did you use the wire wool in an attempt to reflect the flash from a speed camera !!!!!
The front headlamp surrounds (on the 4 quad cibie model) also had a matt black coating with chrome underneath.
I can see where your coming from with the Crown taking up driveway space, one is enough!
There is one on ebay at the moment, but I dont want a whole car!

Forgot to mention, to save me looking for a technical book, does anyone have the dimensions from the centre of the wheel arch to the ground or to the centre of the wheel hub for front and rear? My ms112 (1981) appears to be low at the rear. The springs I think have gone weak and they are no longer available from Toyota. Cheers
