Billing has been pulled due to changes to their original terms and conditions.
I've been in touch with The Motorist and they no longer hold themed Cars and Coffee meets anymore so that basically means we can have any Sunday we want.
If we go with the original date of August 13th I can request use of the Club Le Mans room for the AGM. There are no F1 races that day so we should be uninterrupted.
I'll also ask for us to use a corner plot on the grass so we can put up event shelters/gazebos and the club feather flags. That way we can keep all the TEC cars together.
Once things are more advanced I'll start sharing the details with other Toyota related clubs/groups.

From a location point of view I supposed the same could be said for members in the North, Scotland and Ireland for the last 20+ years.
I appreciate where you're coming from but after Billing fell through last week I was asked by Harvey and Malcolm to contact The Motorist as last year's event was a great success.

Thanks for the update Jeffers Shame theres no return to Billing this year , but saying that i really enjoyed the Motorist last year , really nice venue , even though its a lot further for me to travel I book a B&B and make a weekend of it , althou i understand for some people with commitments (family etc) its not as simple as that It was mentioned at one point that it could be at Billing and The Motorist at alternating years , which would be a good idea , but looks like thats not going to happen now

You're right, that was the plan. Alternating between North and South would allow the majority of club members an opportunity to attend at least every two years. The reasons for Billing not being used as planned have been published on social media so I won't bother repeating it. When it fell through the committee asked me to see if The Motorist was available as the Billing date was a very favourable one and venues get booked up early. Luckily they have dropped their themed Sundays and due to the space available they can accommodate us on any Sunday. That's why we're going for 13th August as originally planned. Communication isn't as good as last year but I'm keeping on at them to confirm the date and use of the Club Le Mans room for the AGM. Like last year I'll ask Gemma to create a flyer so it can be shared with other Toyota related clubs/fb groups to hopefully increase the turnout Jeff www.themotorist.com

Thanks to Jeffers for his work in making arrangements to return to The Motorist for this years National Rally and AGM. Also for explaining why the confirmed booking Malcolm made for Billing, some time ago fell through, not of our making. Harvey has also posted on the Club Facebook site, that there will be more information on how that happened in the club Newsletter, due shortly. There does seem to be merit in the idea of moving the National/AGM some way North and then South, (not too far) on alternative years. As well as Billing we successfully used Hatton World and The British Motor Museum, both close to Warwick, in recent years.
Perhaps members could bring some ideas for a more Southerly venue, to the AGM. It was thoughtful of Bob to consider members in the South East and West of the UK when reckoning the move to The Motorist was for them, a shame. Interestingly for some in the West of the UK like me, The Motorist is actually a bit closer than Billing. It's also closer for another Club member and my frequent fellow traveller to TEC events in Scotland and England. He lives close to the village of Belleek - check it out on Wilkipedia - listed officially as the Westernmost settlement in The United Kingdom.
Meantime looking forward to this years edition of Retro Toyota Day at the Toyota Dealer premises in Carlisle. Just two months away. Hugely successful in recent years and highly recommended - big selection of older Toyotas from far and near including TEC members, which the organisers usually give priority display positions, in the Showroom.

That's why we're going for 13th August as originally planned. Is the 13th August a provisional date , or is it now confirmed ? Thanks

Looks like we will be there, but in the Mazda again as we'll be making it part of a week long road trip. Visiting Yorkshire, Durham, Washington and many places along the way.

Bryan, great to see you plan to get to the AGM/National. I enjoyed too your recent post which included the excellent feature from Hagertys on your gen 3 Celica convertible. I know it's a bit of a contentious subject but I agree with your policy of bringing the car, as you say to a "well looked after" condition. That in the opinion of me and quite a few others is how classics should look. In other words like a nicely maintained car, 3 or 4 years old and as the factory had built it.
Owners are of course entitled to have their cars in whatever condition they wish, but surely rebuilds that feature, especially under bonnet chroming or anodising of parts, or interior re trims from vinyl or leather can't properly represent that particular model as it left the production line.
I believe you are already aware that some of the more distant members are booked into the Premier Inn Pontefract North for dinner and the Saturday night Aug 12, ahead of the AGM/Nat the following day. 6 already confirmed. Both of you and anyone else welcome to join.

We're bringing the caravan up (hence the Mazda) and we will be staying at Thirsk Racecourse for the week Sat 12th to 19th. the plan was to spend a week travelling from Premier Inn to Premier Inn, but 7 nights would have been nearly £900 Plus food. I think we'll have to pass on the meal Saturday night (thanks for the invite) but we won't be at the campsite until tea time eta 5-6pm
