Complete Novice has a 2002 Reg two door 1.6 Corolla T3. MOT examiner says passenger side headlamp Beam is too high and needs lowering. The only thing i can figure out is a plastic hexagonal head near the lamp to fit an allen key into. Would that be the adjustment point? To lower the beam would that be anti clockwise or clockwise please.

I would check the lamp was in correctly 1st. Headlights rarely need adjustment, unless you've had a knock.

When in doubt, just park it up against a wall or garage door, put the headlamps on dipped and turn the adjuster one way, if the beam aim lowers, your going the right way. Just be mindful there will be one adjuster to move the beam up & down and one to move it left & right. Best option is put some markers on the wall to check where the beam aim was initially set to, so at least you can put it back to the starting point if needed.
Most test centres would do it for you whilst doing the test, especially if the vehicle passed on everything else. Beam aim can sometimes move if the bulb has been changed since last test or as already mentioned they can be out of alignment after a slight nudge!
Hope this Helps

I wonder if the headlight ever ended up pointing in the right direction.
