The chain can be replaced easily on the 2T engine without removing the sump as suggested in various manuals as long as the sump gasket remains intact.Remove radiator, disconnect fan and water-pump pulley and remove fan-belt.Remove crankshaft pulley bolt and lever off pulley, undo timing case bolts and four sump bolts and tap timing case behind water pump and the case should come free without damage to sump gasket. Set the timing chain up with the timing marks on the pulleys at 12'o clock position, marks are circular either punch marks or the toyota trademark depending on age of engine, remove camshaft pulley bolt and tensioner and lever off both pulleys a few mm at a time alternating between top and bottom, the chain should come off with the gears.Examine tensioner pad and chain guide for wear but unless tracks worn are really excessive they can be reused.Install new chain making sure nothing has moved and re-assemble all parts removed. Ignition timing will require to be reset as when fitting a new chain it will alter timing by a few degrees as the new chain has no wear or slack in it. good luck
