Hi all
Has / Does anyone have problems with fuel being drawn back to the tank if the car is left for a couple of days and any fixes ? We have 2 cars a Cressida and a Crown both with 4m's and manual pumps which suffer with this problem to the point that by the time you've got fuel the battery has drained and won't turn the engine over. Any help appreciated Thanks

I had this problem with my old austin A35, turned out the valves in the fuel pump were gone, new pump solved it. I assume its the same with the toyota I suppose removing the pipe from the fuel filter and blocking it will confirm that it is not draining back. If it still loses fuel then its the carb and this would show up by the oil level rising as it gets diluted with petrol, and oil would smell of fuel.

Hi I have checked the pipe work at the engine end , fitted new clamps , changed the fuel filter and changed the fuel pump with a good checked second hand unit and it still does the same. The sight glass on the carb seems to show that the carb level drops as well.
