Re: Toyota Previa Registered Sept 2000 UK Engine 2.4cc Petrol - 85,000 Miles. (LPG Conv Jan 2006 - ) Converted at 60,000 miles. Problem: Incomplete Combustion- Audible Chuffing Sound through air intake.
I am currently experiencing incomplete combustion problems with my Toyota Previa. The faults are manifesting themselves particularly with the initial start up by stalling and then continued high Hydro Carbon Emissions at 462ppm, as opposed to less than 50ppm. The CO2 is above 1% and this should be under 0.2% The car has had several diagnostic checks 5no. in total which are pin pointing faulty Lambda. Fault Code 1155. As a result both O2 Lambda sensors top side of Catalytic converter have been replaced and bottom Lambda units cleaned. The compression test has been checked as OK. The timing has been checked out and is well within Toyota tolerances. Although Toyota refers me back to my LPG specialist, the problem appears on Gas and Petrol. Two Gas specialists have interrogated the problem and report that it is a symptom of the car rather than directly attributed to the conversion. If I disconnected the LPG system the fault remains. Has any body else had any experience of this type of fault and any suggestions as to my next step to urgently rectify? Thanks

Plugs and leads perfect? Or it would be worth trying to see if there's one particular cylinder causing the problem. Start from cold and see if one branch of the manifold takes longer to heat up. A dab of wax, grease etc. on each one will help spot any difference. (Maybe the OBD would have picked that up anyway. )
But I'm just guessing.
Have you tried any newsgroups? Some of these guys know their stuff. uk.rec.cars.maintenance alt.autos.toyota (USA mainly) Al
