I have 1999 celica st202 1.8 st & under normal braking there is backwards impact through the brake pedal & from the abs unit under the bonnet car was put on the computer today & it says there are no abs problems anyone help?

It may be worth shouting this out on Celica-Club. One ofthe members may know if this is a common thing on Gen6's. i take it you can feel a bit of feedback through the pedal like a warped disc or something.

Sounds like the ABS is activating due to a faulty signal from a sensor. Is this only happening at low speeds say from 10mph to standstill? If so its an airgap problem with a sensor. Has any work been carried out recently ie wheel brg or brake pad change? The computer wont pick up a fault as it thinks the wheel has locked and activates the ABS

i took the car over from manchester last month so i dont know what was done to it will be going to toyota mechanic on monday, bought it for my wife so its got to be perfect.

Problem solved, left with the main man paul kirk & he found the abs ring on the cv joint broken so new cv joint fitted & problem solved happy days.
