Hi Billy, on the date your car was registered which is 00/00/1975 just add 40 years that will make yours tax free after August 2015

Hi
I have a 22st which was registered 1st august 1975 , from the chassis no and the toyota manufacturing dates book which i have it appears it was built within the first week of 1975 and took nearly 8 months to get to the uk and onto the road. therefore under the current rules it won't go tax exempt until april 2016, if you let me have a chassis number i will tell you when yours was was built. my 22gt was built in 74 even though it is feb 75 registered so goes tax exempt this april, hence i need to get it on the road . hope this helps malcolm.

hi your car was built june 1974 and therefore has to get to the 1st jan after built date when it is over 40 years old hence jan 2016 , it will go tax exempt april 2016 , 15 months time.
i have a list of chassis numbers and build dates as well as an original toyota celica ta22 parts catalogue with break points on chassis numbers for change in specification.
your car is a much later chassis no than mine , but my car is original brown and this colour may have not sold so well hence took longer to get to registered date- i quite like the colour and its still original.
hope this clarifies the rational , unfortunately you have to wait 15 months
cheers malcolm.

Hi well thats not correct as the car was 1st registered on the 1st april 1976? i spoke to the original owner a few years ago & he told me when he bought it & waited until the registration he wanted & had booked came out on the 1st april! Could it be 2nd week june 1975 Malcolm?

The "Toyota Production Frame Reference Manual" that TEC use for dating, lists first TA23 chassis no in Jan 1976 as 005539,the last TA22's were produced in Dec 1975. RA23 production started in October 1975 with chassis no RA23 000009 so although this manual, that was to be used in conjunction with parts dept microfiche dosen't list Dec 1975 TA23 first production numbers, it appears your car could be one of the very first batch of TA23 for UK market.
